Metropolitan Arts Center & Virginia Samford Theatre

GOALS and OBJECTIVES

• Arts Center - Coordinate and promote the many arts programs available in the Birmingham metropolitan area.

• Virginia Samford Theatre - Provide an historic venue for diverse arts presentations by local, regional and national artists and arts organizations.

• Arts Development - Encourage the production of new artistic works for the performing and visual arts by providing an affordable venue and technical staff.

• Arts Incubator - Provide office space and administrative support for small and emerging arts groups.

• Ticket Center - Serve as a central ticket agency and provide support services for small arts events.

• Arts Parks - Coordinate Caldwell Park as a cultural park and establish other arts venues throughout Birmingham and Jefferson County.

• Arts Education - Pursue a collaborative relationship with the Alabama Shakespeare Festival to enhance arts education opportunities for students in the Birmingham area.

• Arts Promotion - Produce the annual BRAVO! Birmingham Arts Festival showcasing the quality and diversity of arts organizations in the Birmingham metropolitan area.

• Arts Advocacy - Partner with Operation New Birmingham, the Metropolitan Development Board and the Birmingham Area Chamber of Commerce in the promotion of cultural tourism and the pursuit of economic development through the arts.
